Kaizen Gaming’s Betano platform has published betting data from its own user base ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-finals, with Argentina and France the most-backed sides to reach the final.

The figures, drawn from 18 markets excluding the UK, were captured on the morning of 13 July, before either semi-final kicked off, and reflect Betano’s platform activity rather than the wider betting market.

Semi-final favourites

Betano’s data shows Argentina backed by 71% of users to beat England when the sides meet at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta tomorrow on 15 July. Argentina reached the last four after edging past Switzerland in extra time.

Betano users lean more heavily toward France, with 79% expecting them to eliminate Spain a day earlier in Arlington, Texas. All four semi-finalists entered the tournament ranked among the world’s top sides, a rare occurrence at this stage.

Betano’s split on the England v Argentina tie runs counter to the wider market. Sportsbooks including DraftKings and bet365 list England as marginal favourites to reach the final, making it one of the tournament’s tightest calls. The France v Spain reading sits closer to mainstream pricing, where France also holds a narrow edge.

Race for Golden Boot

Kylian Mbappe is the most-backed player to score in the France v Spain semi-final, taken by 60% of Betano users in that match-specific market.

Lionel Messi leads the equivalent scoring market for the Argentina v England tie, on 34%, despite going without a goal in the quarter-final. Both figures reflect match-level markets rather than the outright Golden Boot standings, where the race remains open.

Within Betano’s scoring market for Wednesday’s semi-final, more users back Jude Bellingham (28%) to find the net than captain Harry Kane (20%), pointing to real goal threat from the midfielder. England enter the tie as marginal outsiders in Betano’s own qualification market, even with mainstream sportsbooks leaning their way.

Prior World Cup push

The release builds on a run of Betano data drops tied to the tournament’s knockout stages. Bettors previously backed Erling Haaland’s Norway to beat England in the quarter-final, a pick that ultimately went the other way once England advanced.

Betano was also named Official Tournament Supporter for Europe and South America ahead of the competition, and separately holds an Argentina sponsorship struck in May.

The semi-final figures follow Betano’s earlier release of World Cup betting trends drawn from more than 230,000 wagers, which found fans typically back their own national teams regardless of form.
