  • Super Technologies has taken a seat on the European Gaming and Betting Association’s (EGBA) Board of Directors.
  • The move comes around 21 months after Super became an EGBA member in October 2024.
  • EGBA members generated €18 billion in combined online GGR in 2025, up 34 percent year-on-year.

EGBA confirmed on 16 July 2026 that Super Technologies has joined its Board of Directors, giving the operator a formal role in shaping the trade body’s regulatory agenda.

The appointment comes around 21 months after Super became an EGBA member in October 2024.

Board addition

EGBA is the Brussels-based trade body representing licensed online gambling operators established and regulated within the EU. Its current membership includes Bet365, Entain, Betsson Group, Evoke, FDJ United, Flutter, LeoVegas and Tipico, alongside Super.

Borut Petek, Chief Global Affairs Officer at Super, said:

“Joining the EGBA Board is an important milestone for Super. More importantly, it reflects our belief that a strong and trusted industry can only thrive within a robust and well-functioning regulatory framework.”

Petek argued that Europe has a chance to set the global standard for gambling regulation, pointing to closer cooperation between operators, regulators and policymakers as the way to get there.

Growing influence

Maarten Haijer, Secretary General of EGBA, said:

“Since joining EGBA, Super has been an active and committed member, and we’re delighted to welcome them to our Board. Their perspective and market expertise will be a valuable addition as we continue to promote high industry standards and a safe, competitive and well-regulated online gambling environment in Europe.”

Super joins the board at a strong moment for the association. EGBA’s 2026 Annual Activity Report showed members generated a combined €18 billion in online GGR during 2025, a 34 percent increase on the prior year.

Sports betting GGR grew fastest, up 49 percent to €8.2 billion, while online casino GGR rose 23 percent to €8.6 billion.

EGBA’s members now hold 401 online gambling licences across 22 European countries, up from 321 a year earlier, generating roughly 30 percent of the region’s online gambling GGR.

The association has also expanded its responsible gambling work. Alongside the European Advertising Standards Alliance, EGBA launched a Responsible Influencer Marketing Pledge in October 2025, tightening age verification, improving transparency around paid promotions and limiting content likely to appeal to minors, backed by independent monitoring.

Its European Safer Gambling Week grew to 221 organisations across 24 countries, and the association launched safergambling.eu, a resource site offering country-specific support and self-exclusion information.

Regulatory stakes

The board seat arrives during a period of aggressive growth for Super. The operator recently agreed a six-year sponsorship of Olympiacos BC, the Greek basketball club, in a deal running through 2032 and reportedly worth up to €55 million.

Super has also been building out its technology base, including a planned Romania tech hub tied to its acquisition of Crafting Technologies.

In Brazil, one of its key growth markets, the operator recently moved to refund customers who backed Brazil to win the World Cup after the team’s early exit. That expansion has real financial backing behind it: Blackstone took a €175 million minority stake in Super in 2019, followed by a €1.3 billion refinancing in 2025 alongside HPS Investment Partners.

A board seat at EGBA gives Super direct input into the regulatory debates shaping 22 licensed European markets, at a moment when the operator is simultaneously scaling in Brazil, Greece and Romania.

For rivals watching Super’s build-out, its new voice inside one of the industry’s most influential trade bodies adds another layer to a company already setting the pace on deals and market entries.
