Sportradar Group has announced the election of Breon Corcoran, chief executive officer of IG Group, to its board of directors. The appointment took effect on 11 December 2025.

Corcoran joins the board as a non-executive director, bringing leadership experience across online trading, financial technology and digital wagering businesses to the sports technology company’s governance structure. The announcement was made by Sportradar on 15 December.

The IG Group CEO holds a mathematics degree from Trinity College Dublin and an MBA from INSEAD. In 2016, The Sunday Times named him Business Leader of the Year.

Extensive industry background

Corcoran assumed the role of IG Group CEO on 29 January 2024. Prior to this, he served as chief executive officer of Zepz (formerly WorldRemit Group), an international payments firm, from October 2018 to August 2022.

His career includes leadership positions within the betting sector. Corcoran was CEO of Paddy Power Betfair from February 2016 to January 2018, a period during which he oversaw the early integration of the merged business, which later became Flutter Entertainment. Before that, he led Betfair as CEO from August 2012 to February 2016.

From August 2022 to August 2024, he served as chairman of the board of directors of Auction Technology Group, a digital marketplace and auction house operator. Corcoran stepped down from this role in August 2024.

Board welcomes appointment

Jeffery Yabuki, chairman of Sportradar’s board of directors, commented on the appointment.

“Breon has a wealth of leadership experience across multiple industries including a deep understanding of the sports technology and data landscape which will be invaluable to our Board and management. We are thrilled to have him join our Board.”

Carsten Koerl, founder and CEO of Sportradar, added:

“Breon joins our Board at an exciting time as we continue to innovate in sports technology and expand our global footprint. His proven leadership and deep industry experience will help guide us as we advance our strategic priorities, enhance operational excellence, and maximise value creation.”

Corcoran expressed enthusiasm about the appointment.

“Sportradar has built an impressive business in sports technology, and its potential for continued expansion and innovation is enormous. With my background in betting, gaming, and fintech, I am looking forward to working with Jeff, Carsten, and the rest of the Board of Directors to contribute to the company’s journey and help drive long term value for its stakeholders.”

Strategic timing

The appointment comes at a period of expansion for Sportradar. In November 2025, the company completed its acquisition of IMG ARENA and its global sports betting rights portfolio from Endeavor Group Holdings and OB Global Holdings.

The IMG ARENA acquisition added strategic relationships with more than 70 rightsholders, delivering approximately 38,000 official data events and 29,000 streaming events across 14 global sports on six continents. Following the acquisition, Sportradar’s sports coverage totals more than one million matches annually.

The transaction structure was notable, with Sportradar receiving approximately $225 million in total consideration rather than paying for the acquisition. This comprised $125 million paid directly to Sportradar and up to $100 million in cash prepayments made by Endeavor to certain sports rightsholders.

Sportradar, founded in 2001, is a sports technology company that provides solutions to sports federations, news media, consumer platforms and sports betting operators. The company is listed on NASDAQ under the ticker SRAD and maintains partnerships with organisations including the ATP, NBA, NHL, MLB, UEFA and FIFA.

The addition of Corcoran’s expertise in scaling international businesses and digital transformation aligns with Sportradar’s growth strategy following the IMG ARENA integration.
