Sportradar has received a gaming-related vendor licence from the United Arab Emirates’ General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA). This licence enables the Swiss sports data company to supply its technology and services to operators licensed within the UAE’s emerging regulated gaming market.
Entry into UAE
The GCGRA, which regulates and supervises commercial gaming in the UAE, has authorised Sportradar to operate as a licensed vendor. Sportradar joins 16 other approved suppliers, including firms such as Aristocrat, Novomatic, and IGT. The licence is effective immediately and marks Sportradar’s formal entry into the UAE gaming sector.
UAE’s market structure
Currently, the UAE has issued licences for a land-based casino operated by Island 3 AMI FX-LLC and a lottery monopoly held by The Game LLC. The regulator has yet to issue licences for online sports betting or iGaming services. Sportradar’s licence indicates preparedness to support future internet gaming and sports wagering offerings in the country.
Strategic importance for providers
Sportradar previously supplied sports data to the UAE Pro League Committee, and with this licence, it aims to expand across regulated operators within the UAE. This approval positions Sportradar as a key provider of sports data and betting technology in the region’s growing commercial gaming market.
