Hard Rock Bet has launched “After Dark,” the third iteration of its Hard Rock Bet Party campaign, featuring rapper Fat Joe, NFL Hall of Famers Jimmy Johnson and Michael Irvin, golfer John Daly, and basketball veterans Udonis Haslem and Joakim Noah.
Created with 72andSunny New York, the campaign builds on Hard Rock Bet’s “Roll With Us” brand platform, launched in 2024, and runs through the end of the football season.
New faces, same party
The campaign’s hero spot, titled “Everybody,” centres on Fat Joe bringing a new guest into a crowded party, where Johnson and Irvin greet the newcomer by name. The scene reinforces the campaign’s core invitational message: everybody is somebody, and everyone is invited.
Lauren Varnas, Vice President of Brand Marketing at Hard Rock Digital, said:
“The campaign creative continues to evolve, but our core invitational message has stayed the same: there’s a place for everybody and entertainment for anybody at the Hard Rock Bet Party.”
Varnas added that “After Dark” gives the brand a fresh canvas to deliver that invitation “with new personalities, unexpected moments and the energy of football season.” The wider rollout extends the roster to Haslem, Noah and Daly, alongside Fat Joe, and builds on a sports-content push that includes a golf and UFC rights deal with Sportradar.
Alongside the celebrity cameos, the campaign devotes creative real estate to responsible gambling. Additional spots will highlight the sportsbook app’s safety features and responsible gaming tools, a theme Johnson said carried through the shoot itself.
Johnson said:
“It’s always a pleasure working with the Hard Rock brand, and they created a really cool party vibe on set. Yes, the Hard Rock Bet Party is fun, but there’s also a safety and responsibility aspect. Well done.”
Through October 4, qualifying new and returning players can claim the operator’s welcome-back offer of Bet $5, Get $100 in Bonus Bets.
The campaign will also promote Hard Rock Bet’s free-to-play Survivor contest, which starts in Week 4 for players in Florida, alongside other football-season promotions.
A locked-in Florida base
Hard Rock Bet is owned by the Seminole Tribe of Florida and holds exclusive rights to online sports betting in Florida under a 30-year compact ratified in 2021, a monopoly the US Supreme Court left undisturbed after declining to hear a challenge in 2024.
No other national brand, including DraftKings or FanDuel, can take a legal online sports bet in the state.
Beyond Florida, the sportsbook operates in nine additional states: Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, Tennessee and Virginia. Its online casino product runs only in Michigan and New Jersey, where Hard Rock Bet expanded its iGaming footprint after taking over as platform provider for a tribal casino partner.
The operator is also pursuing its first Canadian entry after securing an Ontario iGaming registration from the AGCO earlier this year, a step that would bring Hard Rock Bet into one of North America’s most competitive regulated markets.
A crowded ad season
Michael Irvin tied the timing to the shift in the sports calendar following this year’s World Cup, which drove a record-setting stretch for US sports betting:
“We did the futbol thing this summer, and that was cool for the World Cup, but now it’s football season – the big stage, the bright lights. It’s a special time of year, and everybody is invited.”
“After Dark” lands in a busy stretch for celebrity-led sportsbook advertising. Fanatics Sportsbook ran its own Kendall Jenner-fronted Super Bowl campaign earlier this year. Stake has leaned on sport itself, signing four football legends for its World Cup push ahead of the tournament’s opener.
Hard Rock Bet’s own campaign will run across TV, radio and streaming, paid social, out-of-home and other channels through the end of the football season.
How its mix of celebrity casting and safety messaging performs against that backdrop, particularly in a Florida market it controls outright, will shape how much weight the brand puts behind “After Dark” once the season is fully underway.
