Hard Rock Bet has launched its online sportsbook and casino in Michigan after securing approval from the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) as the new internet gaming and sports betting platform provider for the Hannahville Indian Community’s Island Resort & Casino.

Regulatory approval and partner

The MGCB authorised Hard Rock Bet to begin offering online sports betting and iGaming on 2 December 2025 for the Hannahville Indian Community, which operates Island Resort & Casino in Harris.

The rollout makes Michigan Hard Rock Bet’s 10th sports betting market and its second online casino state in the United States.

“This approval reflects our continued focus on maintaining integrity, transparency, and consumer protection in Michigan’s online gaming and sports betting space,” said MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams.

“We look forward to seeing the Hannahville Indian Community and Hard Rock provide a safe, responsible, and enjoyable wagering experience for players across the state — and especially for those served by one of Michigan’s long-standing tribal gaming operators in the Upper Peninsula.”

The approval follows completion of required licensing steps and formalises Hard Rock Bet as the Tribe’s platform provider in place of the previous operator. The Hannahville Indian Community’s previous online platform partner was 888’s VHL Michigan LLC, operating under the Sports Illustrated (SI Sportsbook / SI Casino) brand.

Evoke (formerly 888 Holdings) decided to exit the U.S B2C online gambling market, citing low revenue, intense competition and the high investment needed to reach profitability and scale.

Hard Rock Digital’s Michigan entry is delivered through its partnership with Island Resort & Casino and the Hannahville Indian Community. The collaboration provides market access for the brand across the state through the casino’s online licence.

Product and features

Hard Rock Bet’s Michigan launch brings its online casino catalogue, including thousands of slot titles, an in-house progressive jackpot engine, live dealer games, and exclusive Hard Rock-branded experiences.

The sportsbook offers parlay-able wagering on major sports and daily promotions, integrated within the same mobile app and desktop platform.

Players also gain access to Unity by Hard Rock, allowing them to earn and redeem rewards across online play and participating Hard Rock locations. The operator highlights fast payouts, customer service, and weekly “Legendary Reward Drops” that deliver personalised rewards for returning players.

Marketing and positioning

Hard Rock Bet is supporting the Michigan debut with a campaign across television, radio, digital and out-of-home channels. The company frames the rollout as part of a broader national expansion strategy focused on product quality, transparency, and rewards.

“This expansion represents a major milestone for Hard Rock Bet and reinforces our ascent as one of the fastest-growing digital gaming brands in the United States,” said Marlon Goldstein, Executive Managing Director-CEO of Hard Rock Digital.

“Our launch in Michigan builds on our momentum as we bring the legendary Hard Rock experience to more fans across the country, offering a trusted online casino and sportsbook on our top-rated and easy-to-use platform.”

The addition of Hard Rock Bet intensifies competition in a mature Michigan market, with another national brand now tied to a tribal casino partner. For operators and investors, the launch indicates continued demand for diversified content, cross-channel loyalty, and product differentiation in regulated U.S. states.
