Fanatics Sportsbook has launched a global soccer campaign for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, targeting American bettors by spotlighting fan culture rather than match action.

The push coincides with the tournament’s return to North American soil for the first time since 1994.

Archetypes, not athletes

The campaign takes a deliberate detour from the celebrity endorsement model that has defined competitor marketing. It is built around short interconnected vignettes depicting familiar betting archetypes: the overconfident self-proclaimed expert, the bettor acting on casual local tips, and the newcomer still learning what a 0-0 draw means for their parlay.

The creative features internet personalities including the Scarlotta Brothers, Lil Mo Mozzarella, OhthatsJuice, Daniel Guizio, Whatsgoodny, Gucci Goldberg, Chris Heyn, Nick Knows Ball, Demarre Johnson, and Elischa Edouard.

The lineup reflects the operator’s wider strategy of using digital-native talent to reach younger bettors, a format it deployed for basketball’s March tournament with Livvy Dunne in a separate “Explained By” campaign launched in March 2025.

Survey backs the bet

To support the launch, Fanatics commissioned a YouGov survey of US sports fans aged 21 and over. Results show 65% of respondents are excited about the 2026 World Cup, with 38% citing the North American hosting as the reason for increased interest. Among those surveyed, 62% said they will be supporting the US Men’s National Team.

Beyond the USMNT, England draws support from 19% of respondents, followed by Brazil at 17% and France at 15%. The social viewing dimension is also notable, with the majority of fans planning to watch matches at home with friends or family.

Fanatics Betting & Gaming CEO Matt King has said a deep USMNT run could push soccer’s share of total US sportsbook handle to as high as 20%, up from under 5% over the past two years, per Sports Business Journal. The operator projects USMNT fixtures will generate five times more betting handle than other tournament games.

Where the money is going

Fanatics’ internal betting data points to clear early patterns. According to the operator, Kylian Mbappé of France leads the Golden Boot market with 27% of bets placed, ahead of Harry Kane of England at 15% and Lamine Yamal of Spain at 13%. In the outright winner market, Spain leads with 25% of bets, France follows at 23%, and England sits at 11%.

On the product side, the operator is running 100% profit boosts across the first ten game days of the tournament, alongside a new customer offer awarding $10 in FanCash per Team USA goal scored, jersey giveaways, and a dedicated tournament hub within the app.

For the broader US market, the stakes extend well beyond one operator’s campaign. Flutter’s Dan Taylor has warned that the illegal market could outstrip $60bn in legal World Cup wagering without stronger regulation, raising the pressure on licensed operators to convert casual soccer fans into long-term bettors before the tournament ends.

Fanatics, which took prediction markets live through a co-branded hub with ADI Predictstreet in May, is treating the tournament as a platform-wide inflection point. The goal is for its sportsbook, merchandise, and prediction markets arms to work together to embed soccer more permanently in the US betting calendar.

With the World Cup’s North American hosting expected to drive record soccer handle, Fanatics is positioning the tournament as a structural turning point for the sport’s place in the US betting market.
