Novibet strengthens live offer with ICONIC21 titles
ICONIC21 has gone live with Greek operator Novibet, bringing its Gravity Series titles to players across 9 regulated markets.
Online sports betting and casino games became legal on January 1, 2025, under Law No. 14,790/2023. The Secretariat of Prizes and Bets (SPA) under the Ministry of Finance regulates the market and issues federal licenses.
Over 80 operators now hold federal licenses. Operators must be incorporated in Brazil with at least 20% Brazilian ownership, pay BRL 30 million for a five-year license, and comply with strict AML/KYC requirements including facial recognition.
Challenges persist: 41-51% of the market remains illegal, with authorities blocking over 18,000 unlicensed sites in 2025. Proposed tax increases for 2026-2028 include raising GGR tax to 13% (2026), 14% (2027), and 15% (2028). A controversial 15% deposit tax (CIDE-Bets) faces Senate vote in early 2026.
Follow federal licensing developments, state vs. federal jurisdiction disputes, illegal operator enforcement, tax legislation (CIDE-Bets), advertising restrictions, and market consolidation trends.
