Stake has officially launched in Buenos Aires Province, Argentina, operating via stake.bet.ar under a licence granted by the Provincial Institute of Lottery and Casinos (IPLyC).

The province is home to more than 17 million people and is one of Argentina’s most significant economic and sporting regions. The launch adds Argentina to a regulated Latin American portfolio that already includes Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, and Peru.

Regional momentum

The Argentina entry comes weeks after Stake went live in Mexico ahead of the 2026 World Cup, continuing a push into locally licensed markets across the region. The operator’s existing ambassador partnership with former Argentina striker Sergio Agüero provides an established connection with local fans.

Stake’s product in the province covers a full sportsbook and casino suite, including football, basketball, tennis and golf markets alongside slots and table games, delivered through a mobile-first platform with content tailored to local preferences.

Diana Otalora, LatAm General Manager at Stake, said:

“Argentina is an important market for us and a natural next step in our expansion across Latin America. There is an incredibly passionate sporting culture, a large and digitally engaged population and strong long-term potential for Stake.

“We’ve continued to build momentum across Latin America in recent years, and this launch reflects our ambition to establish Stake as the leading entertainment brand in the region. Argentina is a market with energy and identity and we’re excited to bring our world-class sportsbook and casino experience to players through stake.bet.ar.”

Regulatory context

Buenos Aires Province operates its own licensing regime through IPLyC, underpinned by Law N° 15,079 and Decree 181/19. The framework prioritises player protection, anti-money laundering compliance, and prevention of illegal gaming, with a limited number of online gambling licences available in the market.

Authorities in the province have also been active in restricting unlicensed operators, working with B2B suppliers in other jurisdictions to limit their offerings to platforms without a local permit. Holding an IPLyC licence therefore carries operational weight beyond regulatory compliance alone.

Operators entering the province must also contend with a pending bill that would prohibit online gambling advertising at and around sports venues across Buenos Aires Province, a proposal that, if passed, would restrict brand visibility for licensed operators in and around sporting events.

Since launching in 2017, Stake has grown to attract more than 100 million monthly visits across its global domains. Otalora has indicated that further Latin American markets remain under active consideration as part of the company’s long-term regional strategy, suggesting the current expansion pace is unlikely to slow.
