  • Pragmatic Play has certified its slots and live casino portfolio for Alberta’s newly regulated iGaming market, which opened on July 13.
  • The certified lineup spans Fury of Anubis, Big Bass Blast, and the Gates of Olympus series, plus blackjack, baccarat, roulette, and game shows.
  • The move extends Pragmatic Play’s existing partnerships with tier-one operators in Ontario, Canada’s only other regulated iGaming market.

Pragmatic Play has switched on its slots and live casino catalog for Alberta, timing certification to the province’s July 13 opening to private operators.

The supplier lands alongside dozens of operators and rival content providers racing to be live on day one of Canada’s second competitive online gambling market.

Certified portfolio

The certification covers Pragmatic Play’s full slots stable, from newer releases like Fury of Anubis and Big Bass Blast through to the evergreen Gates of Olympus series. On the live side, the studio’s blackjack, baccarat, and roulette tables are cleared for Alberta, along with its game show formats, all delivered through the same single API integration the supplier runs across other regulated markets.

Certification is a routine box to tick for a supplier of Pragmatic Play’s scale, but showing up with a full slate on day one still counts for something.

Operators building their opening-day lobbies want proven titles they can slot in without a testing lag, and Gates of Olympus alone carries enough brand recognition to matter in a market where most players have never opened a legal iCasino app before.

Built on Ontario

Pragmatic Play isn’t arriving in Canada cold. The supplier already runs content through a number of tier-one Ontario operators, and Alberta effectively extends that commercial footprint one province over.

Sharon McHugh, Director of PR at Pragmatic Play, said:

“Alberta represents an exciting new adventure for regulated iGaming in Canada, and Pragmatic Play is delighted to be among the first suppliers bringing premium entertainment to operators and their players from day one.”

“Building on our strong momentum in Ontario, this expansion reinforces Pragmatic Play’s long-term commitment to the Canadian market. We look forward to working closely with partners across the province as the market continues to develop.”

A crowded field

Alberta’s launch pulls the province out from under PlayAlberta’s government-run monopoly and into the same open model Ontario pioneered four years ago, with FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM and Caesars among the sportsbooks going live on day one.

Alberta’s government has estimated first-year proceeds at around C$76 million, a fraction of the more than C$4 billion Ontario generated in 2025, but regulators have been explicit that channelization, not just tax revenue, is the point: a large share of the province’s online gambling activity has historically run through offshore and gray-market sites.

For a supplier like Pragmatic Play, getting certified content live on opening day is less about this single market and more about the pattern. Ontario proved the model works; Alberta is the test of whether it scales. Expect more supplier certifications to trickle in over the coming weeks as smaller studios catch up to the day-one names.
