  • Playtech’s iPoker network is now live with FanDuel across Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Ontario, making FanDuel the supplier’s first poker licensee in the North American market.
  • The platform powers PokerStars Exclusively on FanDuel, which launched in three US states on April 1, 2026, and went live in Ontario on June 5, 2026.
  • The deal deepens an existing commercial relationship between Playtech and Flutter Entertainment, the parent company of both FanDuel and PokerStars.

Playtech has activated its iPoker network in North America for the first time, powering PokerStars Exclusively on FanDuel across three US states and the regulated Canadian province of Ontario.

The London-listed supplier confirmed that its iPoker technology now underpins the PokerStars on FanDuel product. The platform launched in Michigan, New Jersey and Pennsylvania on April 1, 2026, before going live in Ontario on June 5, 2026, following a regulatory transition period.

Marat Koss, chief interactive gaming officer at Playtech, said:

“Debuting our industry-leading iPoker platform in North America with a valued partner like FanDuel is a defining moment for Playtech’s North American expansion. We’re immensely proud to bring our poker platform to three major regulated markets and support FanDuel in their mission to deliver a top-tier poker experience to players.”

First North American licensee

FanDuel is Playtech’s first poker licensee in the North American market, a milestone the supplier described as central to its regional expansion strategy.

Michigan, New Jersey and Pennsylvania are all members of the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA), which permits operators to pool player liquidity across participating states. The combined network forms one of the largest regulated online poker pools in North America, giving players access to bigger tournament fields and larger prize pools.

The Michigan gaming board approved FanDuel to offer multistate internet poker across all three states, effective April 1, 2026. FanDuel customers in all four markets can access PokerStars through a dedicated app and desktop site, with a unified wallet spanning poker, casino and sports betting.

For Flutter Entertainment, which owns both FanDuel and PokerStars, the transition consolidates two previously separate products under a single brand structure in the US. Prior to the rebrand, PokerStars operated independently in New Jersey and Michigan, and FanDuel offered its own distinct poker product.

Ontario transition

The Ontario rollout carried additional complexity. The pre-existing PokerStars Ontario platform closed on May 7, 2026, ahead of its move to FanDuel. The new platform, running on Playtech’s iPoker technology rather than PokerStars’ legacy system, went live on June 5, 2026, after provincial regulatory requirements were met.

Ontario is the only fully open regulated online gaming market in Canada. The province recorded a record CAD $9.59bn in total iGaming handle in March 2026. Online poker accounts for less than 2% of that activity, though the vertical posted its best-ever month in March in both handle and revenue terms.

The question of whether Ontario players could eventually access international poker liquidity remains legally unresolved. The Ontario Court of Appeal ruled in November 2025 that permitting cross-border peer-to-peer play would be lawful under the Criminal Code.

That ruling is subject to a further appeal at the Supreme Court of Canada by several provincial lottery corporations. Flutter is an intervening party in the case, supporting the legalization of cross-border play.

Americas push accelerates

The iPoker launch is the latest step in Playtech’s broader push across the Americas. The supplier’s US and Canada revenue rose 61% to €48m in fiscal year 2025, driven by new state launches, live casino studio expansion and growing platform wallet share.

Playtech had earlier activated its iPoker network in Mexico through a partnership with Codere Online in February 2026, its first deployment of the technology in Latin America. That deal connected Mexican players to Playtech’s shared liquidity pool alongside users from other operators on the network.

At its most recent trading update, covering January to April 2026, Playtech reported stronger-than-expected performance across the Americas, with live casino and platform revenues both cited as contributors. The supplier has studios in São Paulo and Las Vegas, with further capacity investment planned.

Securing FanDuel as its first US and Canadian poker client gives Playtech a foothold in a segment where rival technology providers have operated for longer. The supplier’s ability to expand its iPoker footprint will depend in part on how quickly additional regulated US states open for online poker, and on whether Flutter opts to extend the PokerStars on FanDuel model into new markets.
