Gaming in the Nordics, the latest conference brand from Gaming in Europe, makes its debut in Copenhagen on 18 June 2026 with a speaker line-up that spans regulators, operators, and trade bodies from Denmark, Sweden, Finland, and Norway.
The half-day launch event takes place at the headquarters of Better Collective and will be chaired by Peter-Paul de Goeij, managing consultant at QuodBonum.se.
Regulator leads line-up
Anders Dorph, director of Denmark’s gambling regulator Spillemyndigheden and chair of the Gambling Regulators’ European Forum, is the headline speaker. He is joined by Pontus Lindwall, CEO of Betsson; Jesper Søgaard, co-founder and co-CEO of Better Collective; and Morten Ronde, CEO of the Danish Online Gambling Association.
Fredrik Stenstrøm, secretary general of Norway’s online gambling association NBO, Pekka Ilmivalta, head of office at Nordic Legal Finland, Birgitte Sand, CEO of Birgitte Sand & Associates, and Josh Hodgson, COO of H2 Gambling Capital, complete the confirmed roster.
Willem van Oort, founder of Gaming in the Nordics, said:
“We are extremely pleased that Mr. Anders Dorph has agreed to speak at the Gaming in the Nordics launch event. In my experience, it is always good to able to facilitate a dialogue between regulatory authorities and the industry – which in this case will be very capably represented by Betsson’s Mr. Pontus Lindwall, as well as several leading trade bodies.
“Although the Nordic markets are in varying states of regulation and market maturity, there nonetheless exist certain commonalities, which together provide a solid basis for the fruitful exchange of lessons learned and best practices.”
Varied regulatory landscape
The four markets represented at the event sit at markedly different stages. Denmark has operated a licensed iGaming framework since 2012 and is currently progressing advertising reforms. Sweden’s competitive market launched in 2019.
Finland signed a new Gambling Act into law in January 2026, with a licensed market set to open on 1 July 2027. Norway, by contrast, continues to operate a state monopoly through Norsk Tipping with no confirmed timeline for liberalisation.
That divergence is central to the event’s framing. Gaming in Europe organises market-specific annual conferences in the Netherlands, Germany, and Spain, each focused on regulatory dialogue in locally regulated jurisdictions.
Gaming in the Nordics extends that model to a region where regulation and market maturity vary considerably from one country to the next.
Format and next steps
Capacity at the launch event is limited, and all registrants will initially be placed on a waiting list. Key sessions will be recorded and distributed to members of the Gaming in the Nordics community.
A full annual Gaming in the Nordics conference is planned for Copenhagen from 2027 onwards. For operators and suppliers tracking Finland’s market opening and Norway’s evolving regulatory debate, the June event offers early access to the key voices shaping the region’s direction.
