  • FanDuel Predicts launches nationwide in less than four weeks, offering event contracts across all 50 states.
  • Sports contracts are available in 18 states, including California, Texas and Florida where traditional betting remains restricted.
  • The platform, powered by CME Group partnership, provides access to financial markets, sports events and economic indicators.

FanDuel has completed a rapid nationwide rollout of its prediction markets platform, becoming the first state-regulated gaming operator to offer such services across all 50 US states.

The expansion comes less than a month after the platform’s initial launch on 22 December 2025.

FanDuel Predicts, developed in partnership with CME Group, now provides event contracts spanning financial markets, economic indicators and sports outcomes, according to the official press release.

The platform offers sports-related contracts in 18 states, targeting major markets where traditional sports betting remains unavailable or restricted.

Strategic expansion into non-betting markets

The platform’s sports footprint includes populous states such as California, Texas and Georgia, where online sports betting remains illegal.

FanDuel also offers sports contracts in Florida, where Hard Rock Bet operates as the sole legal sportsbook under Seminole Tribe ownership.

In the remaining 32 states—23 of which already licence FanDuel Sportsbook for sports betting—the platform restricts offerings to finance, economic and commodities contracts only.

The operator has pledged to cease sports event contracts in states where it holds traditional sports betting licences to maintain regulatory compliance.

James Cooper, Senior Vice President, Flywheel and New Ventures at FanDuel, commented:

“We’re giving our customers a new platform to engage with the world around them – whether that’s the next Fed rate decision or a sports event,” said Cooper.

“This launch in five states will provide valuable insights into customer engagement with this new platform, enabling us to refine our approach as we expand to additional states in 2026.”

Peer-to-peer marketplace model

FanDuel Predicts functions as a peer-to-peer marketplace where users buy and sell shares based on event likelihood. The platform offers contracts on benchmarks including the S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100, oil and gas prices, gold, cryptocurrencies and key economic indicators such as GDP and CPI.

The initial rollout on 22 December 2025 covered Alabama, Alaska, North Dakota, South Carolina and South Dakota. The company completed its nationwide expansion in mid-January 2026, adding sports contracts to 13 additional states on Wednesday before updating its operating map to include all remaining states on Thursday.

Regulatory landscape and competition

The platform operates under regulation by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), distinguishing it from traditional sports betting products. This regulatory framework has enabled rapid expansion but has also drawn scrutiny from state gaming regulators.

FanDuel’s departure from the American Gaming Association in November 2025, alongside DraftKings, signalled the company’s commitment to prediction markets despite industry opposition. The AGA has taken a sceptical stance on prediction markets, arguing they exploit regulatory gaps.

Several state gaming commissions—including those in Ohio, Michigan, Illinois and New York—have warned licensed sports betting operators that offering sports event contracts could jeopardise their existing licences.

FanDuel and DraftKings also exited Nevada over conflicts with state regulators regarding prediction markets.

The Arizona Department of Gaming has taken concrete enforcement action, moving to revoke Underdog’s licence over its prediction market partnership. Underdog subsequently exited North Carolina sports betting to focus on prediction markets.

FanDuel joins competitors DraftKings and Fanatics in the prediction markets space.

DraftKings Predictions operates in 38 states with sports contracts available in 17 states, whilst Fanatics Markets, developed with Crypto.com, offers prediction markets in 24 states. DraftKings secured federal approvals before launching its platform.

Consumer protection measures

FanDuel has extended its consumer protection protocols to the Predicts platform. Users can set deposit limits and alerts or self-exclude if needed, with mental health services provided by Kindbridge Behavior Health.

The company has also specified that sports contracts will not be available on tribal lands in states where online sports betting remains illegal. As new states legalise online sports betting, FanDuel Predicts will discontinue sports event contracts in those jurisdictions.

The 2025 partnership with CME Group granted FanDuel access to federally regulated prediction markets, positioning the company alongside other major sports betting operators expanding into this emerging sector. FanDuel Group maintains a presence across all 50 states with approximately 17 million customers and 25 retail locations.
