  • DAZN Bet has launched its sportsbook and casino in Ontario and Alberta, powered by Altenar’s sportsbook technology.
  • Alberta’s regulated iGaming market opened on 13 July, giving DAZN Bet an early foothold among more than 30 registered operators.
  • Richard Rawlinson, DAZN Bet’s Managing Director for Canada, says the dual launch builds on the operator’s Ontario debut in June.

DAZN Bet has expanded into Ontario and Alberta, going live in both regulated Canadian markets on a sportsbook build from technology partner Altenar.

The move marks the sports-streaming brand’s first dual-province push in North America, following its Ontario debut in late June and Alberta’s market opening on 13 July.

Alberta window opens

DAZN Bet’s timing lines up closely with Alberta’s launch. The province opened its regulated online gambling market on 13 July, joining Ontario as Canada’s second competitive iGaming jurisdiction.

DAZN Bet secured registration with the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission ahead of that date, positioning it among more than 30 operators cleared to compete from day one. That followed the operator’s Ontario gaming registration in January, which paved the way for its Ontario launch on 30 June.

Ontario was DAZN Bet’s first market outside Europe. Alberta now becomes its second, rounding out an early presence across Canada’s two largest regulated online gambling markets.

Altenar partnership deepens

The sportsbook itself runs on Altenar’s technology, extending a partnership the two companies describe as long-standing. DAZN Bet says the setup lets it scale into new jurisdictions while keeping the product tailored to local rules and player expectations.

Manos Mytilinaios, Regional Manager at Altenar, said:

“We are delighted that DAZN Bet continues to place its trust in Altenar as its sportsbook technology partner. Expanding together into Ontario and also Alberta Market – is an exciting milestone for both companies. It reflects the confidence our partners have in Altenar’s technology, flexibility and ability to support ambitious international growth. We look forward to continuing this successful journey together as DAZN Bet expands into regulated markets.”

Altenar frames the Canadian rollout as part of its broader push into regulated markets worldwide, adding two more licensed jurisdictions to its operator base.

Canada build-out continues

DAZN Bet’s Canadian operation is led by Richard Rawlinson, who joined as the brand’s first country manager for Canada after roles at Sports Interaction and TonyBet.

He said the Ontario and Alberta launches mark another step in the company’s international growth strategy, and that a reliable technology partner is essential to delivering the sportsbook experience DAZN Bet’s customers expect.

Rawlinson, Managing Director of DAZN Bet for Canada, said:

“Launching DAZN Bet in Ontario and Alberta represents another important step in our international growth strategy. As we continue expanding into regulated markets, having a trusted technology partner is essential to delivering the high-quality sportsbook experience our customers expect. Altenar has consistently demonstrated the flexibility, reliability and expertise needed to support our ambitions, and we look forward to building on this successful partnership as we continue to grow.”

DAZN Bet is already live across several European markets, including the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Spain and Italy, with a France launch added in late 2025. The operator has also pointed to earlier activity in Austria, though that market has featured less consistently in its public market lists.

Alberta’s opening drew a crowded field of operators, from established names like bet365, BetMGM and DraftKings to newer entrants still building out their Canadian presence.

DAZN Bet’s ability to lean on its existing sports-streaming audience gives it a distribution advantage that pure-play sportsbooks lack, particularly if the company follows through on plans to combine live streaming with in-app wagering in Canada as it has in parts of Europe.
