Yggdrasil has welcomed Slightly Edgy into its YGG Masters programme, with the partnership marking a pilot deployment of Game in a Box™, Yggdrasil’s game development platform announced in September 2025.

The collaboration positions Slightly Edgy as a testing partner for Game in a Box™ technology, which streamlines development processes and simplifies integration for studios within the YGG Masters network.

Studio targets digital-native players

Slightly Edgy’s content strategy centres on three principles: Velocity, Respect the Player and Break the Pattern. The studio develops slot experiences aimed at digital-native players who favour high-volatility, fast-paced gameplay.

The studio’s design approach incorporates dark-mode aesthetics, bold user interfaces and mechanics intended to generate engagement within player communities.

Zoe Bird, Head of Masters at Yggdrasil, said:

“Slightly Edgy has a brand identity and player insight that perfectly fits where the industry is heading. Their ‘break the pattern’ ethos aligns beautifully with what Game in a Box™ was built to unlock, and we can’t wait to work closely with them to boost their success.”

First release scheduled for March 2026

Slightly Edgy’s debut title under the YGG Masters programme, Toothless Smile, is scheduled to launch in March 2026. The game will be built entirely using Game in a Box™ technology.

Game in a Box™ is a no-code platform that enables studios to design, test and certify slot games without writing code. The framework aims to reduce development cycles from months to weeks by automating repetitive tasks and accelerating quality assurance and certification processes.

A spokesperson for Slightly Edgy said:

“Velocity is everything. Players don’t want to wait, and neither do we. Game in a Box™ gives us the speed and freedom to build the kind of games we believe the market is missing. We respect the player, we don’t waste their time, and we never settle for copy-paste mechanics. If it doesn’t break the pattern, we’re not making it.”

YGG Masters programme expansion

The addition of Slightly Edgy extends Yggdrasil’s YGG Masters programme, which connects independent studios with Yggdrasil’s distribution network and proprietary technology platform, GATI. The programme enables the supplier to scale its game portfolio through partnerships rather than solely through internal development.

Game in a Box™ launched in October 2025 with Yggdrasil’s internal title Raptor 2 serving as the first game built entirely on the platform. The company announced it is validating the technology internally before broader rollout to YGG Masters partners.

For Slightly Edgy, the partnership provides access to Yggdrasil’s operator relationships and promotional toolset, including BOOST™ and Game Engagement Mechanics (GEMs).

Implications for studio partnerships

The success of the Slightly Edgy partnership will be measured by game performance and the efficiency gains demonstrated through Game in a Box™ adoption. If the platform delivers faster development cycles and simplified integration, Yggdrasil could attract additional studios seeking rapid market entry.

The focus on digital-native player preferences reflects industry recognition that younger demographics consume slot content differently than traditional players. Studios targeting this audience prioritise speed, visual appeal and social shareability over conventional slot mechanics.
