Entain’s Sports Interaction and PartyCasino brands have received licences from the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission, moving both into Alberta’s regulated iGaming market as of July 23, 2026.
The additions give the FTSE 100 operator three live platforms in the province, alongside its BetMGM joint venture, which has operated there since Alberta’s market opened on July 13.
Licences confirmed
The AGLC approved both brands on July 23, clearing Sports Interaction and PartyCasino to operate under Alberta’s new regulatory framework. Entain said the two brands bring a long track record of fairness, security and responsible play, and that Alberta’s rules reinforce those standards across the wider market.
Shir Magen, Head of Canada for Entain, said:
“Alberta represents an exciting next step for regulated online gaming in Canada. What sets Entain apart is our deep commitment and roots in Canada. We understand this market and its customers. We design our product, offering, and customer experience with intention and on-the-ground knowledge.
“Entain’s global scale, technology and industry-leading player protection capabilities allows us to deliver a premium experience tailored specifically for Albertans.”
Established Canadian roots
Sports Interaction has served Canadian sports bettors since 1997 and maintains local operational teams in Calgary, giving it an established presence in Alberta’s sports betting culture.
Entain acquired the brand in 2022 as part of its C$300 million purchase of Avid Gaming, and Sports Interaction has held a licence in Ontario’s regulated market since the same year.
PartyCasino enters Alberta with over 3,000 compliant games, live dealer tables and tailored slots, backed by 24/7 customer support and rapid withdrawals. Both brands operated in Alberta’s unregulated market before the province required grey-market operators to exit ahead of the licensed launch.
Crowded market grows
Alberta’s regulated iGaming market opened on July 13, when major sportsbooks went live across the province, with 22 operator sites active on day one. The addition of Sports Interaction and PartyCasino brings the total to 24 regulated platforms, out of close to 50 entities the AGLC has licensed to date.
Early uptake has been strong. Geolocation provider GeoComply reported more than 100,000 Albertans signed up with its operator partners in the market’s first days, with over 3.2 million geolocation checks recorded in the first week.
Entain now runs three brands in the province, following BetMGM’s day-one launch. The company joins other multi-brand operators active in Alberta.
DraftKings opened its sportsbook and casino in the province in mid-July, and PENN Entertainment brought three brands online the same week, joining Caesars as multi-platform operators under a single Alberta iGaming Corporation commercial agreement.
Alberta became Canada’s second regulated iGaming jurisdiction after Ontario, and its rollout follows a growing operator list that AGLC published ahead of launch.
With no cap on the number of licences available, further brand transitions from the grey market remain likely as operators continue to formalise their presence under the new framework.
