Spain’s online gambling market generates record €410.3 million revenue in Q2 2025

Spain’s online gambling industry delivered strong year-on-year growth in the second quarter of 2025, with gross gaming revenue reaching €410.3 million according to the latest data from the Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ).
The figure represents an 18.6% increase compared to Q2 2024, though quarter-on-quarter growth was more modest at 2.8%, according to DGOJ report.
Total deposits for the period reached €1.35 billion, marking a substantial 23.7% rise from the previous year, while withdrawals climbed 28.9% to €962.9 million. The robust performance comes despite deposits declining slightly by 0.4% compared to the first quarter of 2025.
Casino games drive growth
Casino games emerged as the dominant vertical, generating €216.4 million and capturing 52.7% of total gross gaming revenue. The segment posted impressive growth of 26% year-on-year and 6.5% quarter-on-quarter.
Slots drove much of the casino expansion, with revenue jumping 33.6% annually. Other casino offerings also contributed to the gains, including blackjack which rose 9.5%, live roulette up 5.6%, and conventional roulette increasing 0.5%.
Sports betting maintained its position as the second-largest segment, contributing €171.4 million or 41.8% of total revenue. While the vertical grew 18.2% year-on-year and 2.7% from the previous quarter, performance was mixed across betting types. Pre-match betting surged 24.6%, but live betting dropped sharply by 33.2%.

Poker and bingo face challenges
The poker segment experienced significant declines, with revenue falling 25.2% compared to Q2 2024 and 25.1% from the first quarter to €19.1 million. Tournament poker saw the steepest decline, dropping 32% quarterly and 37.1% annually, while cash poker grew 19.8% year-on-year but still fell 6% quarter-on-quarter.
Bingo remained the smallest segment, generating just €3.4 million in revenue, down 6.4% year-on-year and 6.9% from the previous quarter.
Marketing brings players
Marketing expenditure totalled €164.5 million during the quarter, representing a 37.1% increase from the same period in 2024, though down slightly by 0.2% from Q1. The spending breakdown included €82.64 million on promotions, €62.91 million on advertising, €13.99 million on affiliates, and €4.96 million on sponsorships.
The number of new account registrations reached 504,853, marking an 11.7% increase year-on-year but an 11.6% decline from the previous quarter. The average number of active monthly gaming accounts stood at 1.7 million, up 21% from Q2 2024 but down 2.4% from the first quarter.
Spain currently operates with 77 licensed gaming operators, with 64 actively providing services during the second quarter. The breakdown by segment includes 42 sports betting operators, 52 casino operators, nine poker operators, four bingo operators, and two contest operators.
The continued availability of welcome bonuses, which were reintroduced in 2024 after being previously banned, has likely contributed to sustained player engagement and the overall growth in deposits and gaming activity.
