Rank Group appoints John H. Ott as new chair effective November 17, 2025

- He succeeds interim chair Karen Whitworth, who will return to her roles as Senior Independent Director and Audit Chair.
The Rank Group Plc has announced the appointment of John H. Ott as its new chair, effective from November 17, 2025. Ott will take over the role from interim chair Karen Whitworth, who has held the position since October 15, 2025.
John H. Ott is the outgoing Senior Advisory Partner at Bain & Company in the UK, having joined in 2006. He also serves as a founder, investor, and board member for two private businesses engaged in data technology services and global fractional ownership.
With more than four decades of global business experience, Ott’s career began in the financial services sector in the United States. He joined McKinsey & Company in 1989 before moving to the UK in 2003 to take up the position of Group Strategy and M&A Director at Barclays Bank.
Karen Whitworth, the interim chair, commented on Ott’s appointment:
“During a rigorous and wide-ranging selection process, John emerged as the stand-out candidate to become Rank’s chair. His wealth of experience in highly regulated industries, and advising and working with boards across the globe, will provide the Group with the expertise and leadership that it requires as we embark on the next phase of our strategic journey,” Karen Whitworth said.
Whitworth will resume her duties as Senior Independent Director and Audit Chair following Ott’s arrival.
The transition marks a leadership milestone for Rank Group as it continues to navigate the evolving regulatory landscape of the gambling sector and pursue strategic growth. Ott’s global business acumen and consultancy background are expected to guide the London-listed company towards commercial excellence and market expansion.
The Rank Group is a leading British gaming and entertainment operator, active in both land-based and digital gaming in 2025. The company reported strong financial growth throughout the year, underpinned by expanded casino and bingo operations, technology-driven venue upgrades, and steady digital expansion.
