Part-Time Social Media Editor
Location: Remote
Schedule: Part-Time (25 hours/week, flexible based on news cycle)
About the Role
We are seeking a sharp, digitally savvy Social Media Editor to manage and grow our presence across key social platforms. In this role, you will curate, package, and publish news content in ways that engage audiences, boost traffic, and strengthen our brand’s reputation for timely, accurate reporting.
Responsibilities
- Monitor breaking news and trending topics to identify opportunities for timely social posts
- Craft compelling headlines, captions, and copy tailored to each social platform
- Schedule and publish posts across platforms (e.g., X/Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Threads, LinkedIn, YouTube)
- Collaborate with editors and reporters to promote top stories, investigations, and multimedia packages
- Optimize content for engagement, reach, and clarity
- Track performance analytics and prepare weekly insights reports
- Ensure all posts uphold editorial standards, accuracy, and tone
- Engage with readers by responding to comments or escalating issues to the editorial team
- Experiment with new formats such as Reels, carousels, and quick-turn social videos
Qualifications
- Experience in journalism, social media management, or digital publishing
- Strong writing, editing, and headline-writing skills
- Ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced news environment
- Familiarity with social media analytics tools
- Knowledge of SEO and audience-growth best practices
- Creative eye for visual storytelling and basic image/video editing skills
- Ability to work independently and make sound judgments
Nice to Have
- Experience in iGaming, Crypto, or high-risk emerging markets
- Experience with CMS platforms
- Background in multimedia content creation
- Understanding of media law, fact-checking, and ethical journalism practices
