Missouri is set to launch legal sports betting on December 1, 2025, marking a major milestone for the state’s gaming industry. The Missouri Gaming Commission (MGC) has confirmed the launch date, allowing both online and retail sportsbooks to begin operations statewide.

Ahead of the official launch, operators have opened account registration and deposit options for Missouri residents, giving bettors a head start before the first legal wagers can be placed.

Pre-launch registration

Starting November 17, 2025, nine licensed sportsbook operators began accepting new accounts and deposits from Missouri residents. This early registration window allows bettors to set up accounts and fund them before the December 1 launch. The move is designed to streamline the process for users and ensure a smooth rollout when betting officially goes live.

The MGC has awarded temporary licenses to several major operators, including DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, Caesars, Circa Sports, bet365, Fanatics Sportsbook, ESPN BET (theScore Bet), and Underdog Sports.

Betting conditions

To legally place sports bets in Missouri, bettors must meet several conditions. They must be at least 21 years old and physically located within Missouri state lines at the time of betting. Registration requires submission of a valid Social Security number for identity verification.

Bettors do not need to be Missouri residents but must be physically inside the state to place bets. Mobile sportsbook apps will automatically update a bettor’s jurisdiction when crossing state lines, ensuring betting takes place legally within Missouri.

Most of the operators set to launch in Missouri are already live in several neighbouring states, including Illinois, Kansas, Iowa, Kentucky, and Tennessee. Bettors who have registered accounts in these other states will generally not be eligible for most sign-up bonuses when betting in Missouri.

Nine major operators to go live

The Missouri sports betting market will feature a mix of national brands and local partnerships.

Most operators have partnered with Missouri sports franchises or brick-and-mortar casinos to meet licensing requirements. DraftKings and Circa Sports hold untethered licenses, allowing them to operate without a local partner.

The Missouri launch campaign of the nine sportsbooks is underway, with operators starting a major promotional push to attract new customers through bonus offers and early account registration ahead of the launch date. Bettors can now preregister and deposit, securing bonuses and preparing for legal wagering when the market officially opens.

Legal background

Missouri voters approved sports betting in a November 2024 referendum, making the state the 39th in the US to legalize sportsbooks. Missouri voters approved the sports betting referendum in November 2024 by a very narrow margin of just over 50% of the vote, with the measure passing by fewer than 7,500 votes or approximately 0.25%, one of the closest statewide ballot decisions in recent history.

The MGC has been responsible for drafting regulations and overseeing the licensing process, ensuring compliance with state law. The launch is expected to bring significant economic activity and new entertainment options for residents.

What’s next

With registration now open and the launch date set, Missouri’s sports betting market is set for rapid growth. Operators are preparing for a competitive landscape, and regulators will continue to monitor compliance and consumer protection.
