Grid snaps up Bayes Esports assets following Berlin firm’s insolvency

• Data provider Grid has acquired the intellectual property assets of Berlin-based Bayes Esports following the company’s liquidation proceedings earlier this year
• The acquisition includes live data trading solutions, prediction models and fan engagement tools developed by Bayes over the past decade
• Grid will integrate the Bayes technology into its Grid Bet division to strengthen its esports betting offerings

Game data and technology platform Grid has acquired the intellectual property assets of Bayes Esports for an undisclosed amount following the Berlin-based company’s insolvency proceedings.

The deal was announced last week on 18 September 2025, marking another consolidation move in the competitive esports data market.

The acquisition follows Bayes Esports’ entry into formal insolvency proceedings after the Charlottenburg district court in Berlin determined on 1 August that the company was both illiquid and over-indebted. The court had received the insolvency filing on 26 May, triggering insolvency proceedings under EU regulations.

Grid will integrate the acquired technology components into its Grid Bet division, including live data trading solutions, prediction models and fan engagement tools that Bayes developed over the last decade. These assets will be rolled into Grid’s Data Platform to enhance the company’s esports betting capabilities.

The acquisition comes after Grid secured several major contracts that were previously held by Bayes Esports. Riot Games ended its partnership with Bayes in 2024, later appointing Grid as its official data partner.

The Esports World Cup Foundation also awarded its live-data services contract to Grid in June 2025, whilst ESL FACEIT Group shifted to Grid in 2025 after initially announcing a deal with Bayes in February.

Bayes Esports, which began as DOJO Madness in 2014, had established itself as a prominent player in the esports data market with backing from investors including Sony and Las Vegas Sands. The company rebranded to Bayes Esports in 2019 and focused on official data services, betting innovation and integrity monitoring.

The firm had significantly reduced its workforce in recent months, with only a small team remaining to handle asset sales and explore potential mergers. Creditors have until 24 October to lodge claims, with a creditors’ meeting held on 12 September to decide on asset sales and restructuring options.

Grid currently serves as the official data platform for League of Legends, Valorant, Rainbow Six Siege and PUBG, whilst maintaining a prominent position in the Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2 ecosystems. The company signed additional deals with ESL FACEIT Group and Chinese tournament organiser Clavision in July.
