Eventus International has announced the inaugural iGaming Talent & Career Summit 2027, which takes place on 8 and 9 April 2027 in St. Julian’s, Malta.
The two-day event puts talent, leadership and career development centre stage as layoffs and restructuring hit the iGaming and online betting sector.
Workforce under pressure
The summit runs under the theme “Where Change Creates Opportunity”. It arrives at a difficult moment for the people who power the industry.
Operators and gaming businesses face growing pressure from higher taxes, evolving regulatory requirements and industry consolidation. The accelerating adoption of artificial intelligence is adding to that strain.
As companies reassess their operations and workforce strategies, experienced professionals face an increasingly uncertain employment landscape. Questions about job security, future skills and career opportunities are becoming harder to ignore.
Beyond traditional HR events
According to Eventus International, the same changes are reshaping how businesses operate. They are creating demand for new capabilities and opening doors for professionals willing to adapt.
Yet the organiser argues that the impact on people has received comparatively little attention at major industry gatherings. Technology, regulation and commercial growth have tended to dominate conference programmes.
The new summit is designed to close that gap. It moves beyond the format of traditional HR and recruitment conferences and places people at the centre of the conversation.
The event will bring together CEOs, founders, senior executives, commercial leaders, employers and industry professionals. Together they will examine how the sector can navigate workforce disruption and prepare for its next phase of growth.
Yudi Soetjiptadi, Founder & CEO, Eventus International, said:
“We are seeing significant changes across the iGaming industry, with rising taxes, increasing regulatory pressures and the growing use of AI leading many businesses to rethink their operations and reduce their workforce. Behind these decisions are talented people facing uncertainty about their future, and we believe the industry needs to pay more attention to this.
“That is why we are launching the iGaming Talent & Career Summit. We want to create a dedicated platform where business leaders, employers and professionals can come together, have meaningful conversations and identify new opportunities.
“While the industry is going through a challenging period, we firmly believe its greatest strength remains its people. Our vision is to turn today’s uncertainty into tomorrow’s opportunities, inspiring professionals to move forward with confidence, encouraging businesses to invest in talent and bringing the industry together to build a stronger, more promising future.”
Beyond the stage
The summit aims to connect businesses navigating change with professionals looking to advance, adapt or reinvent their careers.
Organisers are placing the emphasis on meaningful industry engagement and opportunities beyond the conference stage. The goal is practical conversations and lasting connections between employers, decision makers and talent across the sector.
Further details of the programme, speakers, strategic partnerships and delegate experiences will be announced in the coming months. More information is available on the summit website.
Cuts across sectors
The launch follows a year of workforce reductions across the industry. Entain confirmed around 500 job cuts in July to offset higher UK online gambling taxes.
Bet365 followed in September with 340 job losses across Stoke-on-Trent, Malta and Gibraltar. More recently, Flutter outlined up to 1,400 cuts spanning tech, finance and commercial teams.
AI is reshaping supplier headcounts too. CRM supplier Optimove announced plans to cut around 10% of its workforce in an AI-led restructuring earlier in 2026.
Eventus International welcomes enquiries from industry leaders, employers, recruitment and technology providers, prospective sponsors and professionals interested in contributing to the inaugural event.
Media and event enquiries are handled by Lou-Mari Burnett, COO of Eventus International.
The summit joins a busy 2027 calendar for the organiser, which is also taking the Scandinavian & Nordic Gaming Show to Oslo next October.
