Swintt has appointed Etienne Azzopardi as interim managing director, reinforcing its senior leadership team as the Malta-based software provider progresses with a broader C-level restructure following the departure of former CEO David Mann.
Leadership transition and remit
The company confirmed the appointment on 14 January 2026, stating that Azzopardi will assume overall leadership responsibilities after previously serving as chief operating officer.
Mann, who became CEO of Swintt in 2022, has now been named Chief Executive Officer at B2B content provider Playnetic, where he will guide that business through the next stage of its international expansion.
Azzopardi joined Swintt as director of operations in August 2021 before moving into the COO role in February 2022, overseeing operational management, product roadmap optimisation, market licensing and game certification.
In his new interim managing director position, he will continue to lead these operational areas and take broader responsibility for Swintt’s future product strategy, regulated market growth and internal team development.
Etienne Azzopardi, Interim Managing Director at Swintt, commented:
“I’m very excited to be appointed as the Interim Managing Director at Swintt and hope I can repay the trust the company has shown in me by continuing the excellent work we’ve done over the past few years.
“Under David Mann, Swintt grew from an innovative start-up to a software provider sought after for its portfolio of high-quality games with a far-reaching distribution across 13 regulated markets globally.
“In my new role, I fully intend to build on these strong foundations by helping the company expand its portfolio, grow our reach with new commercial partnerships, and make our content available in additional key markets – cementing our legacy in the industry as we enter the next phase of our evolution.”
Over the past four-and-a-half years, Azzopardi has been closely involved in coordinating product deliveries, managing new client launches and supporting Swintt’s entry into new regulated jurisdictions as the company evolved from a start-up into an established supplier.
Market expansion in Germany, UK and Italy
Azzopardi’s appointment comes during a phase of accelerated commercial activity for Swintt across several European markets.
In Germany, the provider has completed a new integration with Entain, making more than 25 SwinttPremium titles available across the operator’s German-facing brands, including bwin, Ladbrokes.de and Sportingbet.
The deal represents Swintt’s largest single expansion in Germany to date and follows regulatory approval for its games in the market. SwinttPremium titles, which combine classic fruit machine-style visuals with features tailored to German regulation, now form part of the local casino line-up on Entain’s platforms.
In the United Kingdom and other international territories, Swintt has agreed a distribution partnership with bet365, launching its portfolio across the operator’s UK-licensed and .com platforms.
In Italy, Swintt has received ADM certification for its content, allowing the company to enter its 13th regulated market and position its games for roll-out with locally licensed operators.
Evolving slot portfolio and product strategy
Alongside its market expansion, Swintt continues to broaden its slot line-up across its different product families.
Within the SwinttPremium range, the provider has released Lucky Fortune Door Wild, a title that builds on the existing Lucky Fortune Door series and introduces additional wild features alongside the established Quadspin mechanic, which offers four connected reel sets.
Swintt has also added more thematic depth to its portfolio with games such as Victorian Vaults, a steampunk-themed slot centred on safecracking, designed to appeal to players looking for more narrative-led content.
Outlook for Swintt and operators
Mann’s move to Playnetic and Azzopardi’s promotion at Swintt highlight continued movement in senior roles across the B2B casino content segment, as suppliers seek leadership profiles combining commercial and operational experience.
With an interim managing director who has detailed knowledge of Swintt’s operations and regulatory obligations, the company is positioned to maintain continuity while executing its market and product plans.
How Azzopardi shapes Swintt’s strategy in the coming months is likely to influence the breadth of content available to operators, the pace of regulated roll-outs and the way investors assess mid-tier suppliers competing for distribution in Europe’s regulated igaming markets.
